Boardman is a large suburb south of Youngstown with nearly 40,000 residents. The township is a popular place for families due to its good schools, safety, and proximity to shopping destinations. Despite being a suburb, Boardman has many older dense neighborhoods close to its border with Youngstown. This page will list some of these neighborhoods in Boardman.

Newport Village Historic District
Built in the early 1900s, Newport Village became of Youngstown's first automobile accessible suburbs. The neighborhood is home to moderately sized tudor or colonial style homes along tree-lined streets. Newport Village is a popular neighborhood due to its historic character, safety, and proximity to both Downtown Youngstown and Boardman. Despite the decline of the adjacent South Side neighborhoods, Newport Village has always remained a beautiful, quiet, and desirable neighborhood.

Forest Glen Estates Historic District
Directly south of Newport Village, Forest Glen Estates makes up the second neighborhood within Boardman's historic district. Forest Glen is known for its large historic mansions and colonial and tudor style architecture. The neighborhood's winding tree lined streets with beautiful landscaping made it heavily contrast with the grid-patterned city around it when it was first built. The Glen was masterplanned by Louis Kreider, who made it into a wealthy suburb around Lake Newport. The developer looked to suburbs such as Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights as inspiration for his new neighborhood. The neighborhood has its own entrance to Mill Creek Park near Lake Newport and is located between Downtown Youngstown and the center of Boardman.

Ridgewood Estates is within walking distance to several businesses along Market Street and is a short car ride from Downtown Youngstown and Boardman's Southern Park Mall.
