Welcome to Youngstown
Founded in 1796, Youngstown is a mid-sized city in Northeastern Ohio that is located in between Pittsburgh and Cleveland. The city is known for its industrial past, more specifically, steel production. Despite its former prosperity, Youngstown fell into intense economic despair when the region's steel mills began to close their doors in the late 1970s. Despite Youngstown's hardships, the area has been showing signs of revival in recent years. Downtown is now a vibrant walkable neighborhood thanks to the many new restaurants, bars, apartments, and other establishments that have invested in the area. Youngstown State University is constantly expanding and bringing new mixed use development projects into the Downtown area. The YNDC is renovating houses across the city and working to stabilize Youngstown's long neglected residential neighborhoods. The Youngstown Business Incubator is bringing in new technology related jobs and working to modernize the city. All of these efforts combined, plus many more across the Mahoning Valley region, will result in Youngstown becoming a successful and lively city once again!
