South Side Neighborhoods
The South Side is the largest and most densely populated side of Youngstown. Historically, the South Side was a bustling urban area, a destination for entertainment, and a center for various European immigrant groups. Ever since the 1970s, the South Side has been on a steep decline, but has begun to improve in recent years. Several South Side neighborhoods have managed to remain good neighborhoods despite decades of economic turmoil, while others are beginning to make their comebacks. This page will list some of the South Side's popular neighborhoods and the amenities within them.
