East Side Neighborhoods
The East Side is usually considered to be the most economically depressed side of Youngstown. The area is known for its growing Puerto Rican population and history of being a major center of steel production in Youngstown.

East Side
The East Side neighborhood refers to the section of the East Side closest to Downtown. It does not refer to the entirety of Youngstown's East Side. East Side (along with Campbell) is the center of Youngstown's Hispanic community and is seeing a rise in Puerto Rican immigrants. The neighborhood has been heavily blighted and remains as a generally unsafe neighborhood. New industrial development closer to Downtown, such as the Chill Can Factory, are showing signs of hope for East Side.
